Resource Consultant - Battery, EV & Gigafactory Recruitment
Our client, a privately owned UK-based company specialising in Nickel Zinc battery technology development, is currently hiring for a Principal Battery Test Engineer. The successful candidate will lead and manage UK-based testing and evaluation initiatives for advanced submarine battery systems.
The Principal Battery Test Engineer will:
1. Apply deep understanding of battery system design, electrochemistry, and safety features to define test objectives and interpret results.
2. Develop, review, and approve detailed test documentation, including Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports for battery modules, packs, and system evaluations.
3. Manage hazard and risk assessments related to lithium-ion battery handling, testing, and fault simulation.
4. Coordinate thermal runaway, short circuit, and mechanical abuse tests in compliance with Defence and maritime standards.
5. Support the creation of business cases, technical input for RFQs, and proposals for new battery testing initiatives.
6. Collaborate with engineering teams, partners, and test facility personnel to align testing scope with project requirements and safety standards.
The Principal Battery Test Engineer should have:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related).
2. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with lithium-ion battery technologies for high-integrity systems.
3. Proven experience in battery system test planning, execution, and reporting across development and qualification stages.
4. Familiarity with Systems Engineering (SE) and Verification & Validation (V&V) processes.
5. Strong communication and leadership skills, including mentoring junior engineers.
