đ Your Mission
In this role, you will focus on trading foreign exchange currencies in emerging markets, with a primary emphasis on Africa and Asia. You will be responsible for navigating both official and parallel exchange rates, leveraging your market insights to inform trading strategies. A key part of your mission will be building and maintaining strong relationships with liquidity partners such as banks, brokers, and other relevant entities, ensuring competitive pricing and liquidity management. You will monitor and analyse emerging FX markets, particularly in Africa and Asia, to drive proactive trading decisions and optimise performance for our remittance business.
đŻ Your responsibilities in this role
o Monitor and analyse foreign exchange markets, particularly in Africa and Asia, to inform and optimise trading strategies.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with liquidity partners such as banks, brokers, and other relevant entities.
o Execute and manage FX trades in alignment with company policies, risk management guidelines, and market conditions.
o Assess market prices and benchmarks to ensure optimal trading decisions are made, with a focus on obtaining the best rates.
o Provide regular insights and forecasts on currency movements, supporting strategic decision-making for the business.
o Manage cash and liquidity efficiently, ensuring competitiveness in the rates and pricing we receive.
o Work with internal teams to ensure smooth execution and settlement of trades.
o Maintain accurate records of trading activities and prepare performance reports
đ„ Must-Have Job Requirements
o Proven experience as an FX Trader within the financial services industry.
o Proven experience trading frontier/illiquid currencies, including navigating both official and parallel markets.
o Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex data and make informed decisions based on market signals. (Ideally youâll have some experience with Python, R or SQL)
o Some exposure to working within a startup or scaleup environment would be beneficial, but not essential. We move fast.
đȘ Nice-to-Have Job Requirements:
* Bachelorâs degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; a Masterâs degree is a plus.
* CFA qualification or similar
* Experience in remittance or cross-border payments.
