Portsmouth Water are looking for a skilled Internal Audit Manager to join the team.
In this role you will plan, manage and deliver internal audits across the business; assessing how well our systems and processes support our goals. You will provide clear, practical recommendations to improve efficiency, risk management, and compliance; while overseeing and coordinating external audit work. What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver a risk-based internal audit plan, strategy and universe, linking into Enterprise Risk Management and annual audit planning processes;
* Manage the relationship with the co-sourced audit partner, and oversee and coordinate audits completed;
* Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to ensure internal audits remain current and aligned with business operations and areas of high risk;
* Lead and execute audits across financial and operational controls and compliance including planning, interviewing, controls testing, fact gathering, evidence analysis, documenting and reporting/presenting;
* Draw clear, evidence-based conclusions and present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders;
* Communicate effectively with all levels of the business, including Executives and Board Members;
* Conduct root cause analysis on control and process issues, recommending practical solutions;
* Identify internal control deficiencies and hold discussions with control owners to agree actions;
* Develop, document, and enhance the internal audit and control methodology in line with IIA Global standards;
* Perform materials controls testing for Board assurance to comply with Provision 29 of the UKCGC;
* Use data analytics and visualization tools to generate insights and strengthen audit outcomes;
* Produce papers and present audit findings and recommendations to a range of stakeholders (Exec, Committees and Board).
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
Essential:
* Professional accountancy or internal audit qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CMIIA, CIAA) or QBE
* Experience in internal or external audit, internal control, or assurance/advisory audit
* Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies and risk management
* Proficient in audit software and the Microsoft Office Suite
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Desirable:
* Experience in Big 4/FMGG environment
* Industry experience
* Corporate Finance experience
* Previous Treasury experience
