NCC operates 5 children's homes including a national secure children centre with education. Overall, the service employs approximately 200 care staff and 30 support services staff across the 5 sites. Our homes accommodate 25 young people aged 6 - 17, our main aim is to offer an exceptional family focussed caring environment where children and young people can feel safe and thrive in order to meet their full potential.
The service is inspected by Ofsted on a yearly basis. Currently Barndale Short Break Service is rated as Good. It is crucial that everyone in our team is committed and motivated to meeting the needs of our specialised group of young people and have high aspirations for each and every young person we live and work with.
We offer a short break service to Northumberland young people who have been assessed as having a moderate to severe learning difficulty.

The Band 4 is an entry level post therefore, we encourage applications from people with experience in a similar discipline, but this is not essential as we appreciate that there are adults that hold transferrable skills and values that meet the requirements of a suitable candidate but have never had the privilege of working directly with children and young people.

This role requires you to work to a shift pattern which will include night shifts. The service operates 44 weekends throughout the year.
A starting salary of £12,792 progressing up to £13,634 Band 4 (18.5 hour part time figure quoted).

• You must have a good general education and be willing and able to undertake relevant training. You will be supported to complete the Diploma Level 4 in Residential Child Care, which is a requirement of the job role.
