About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Level 6 Biomedical Scientist degree apprenticeship programme and train to become a Biomedical Scientist.
You will join Sonic Healthcare UK as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist (Apprentice). The apprenticeship runs for a period of 4 years and you will complete a part-time IBMS (Institute of Biomedical Science) accredited BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science degree whilst working in one of our pathology laboratories in London and Greater London. You’ll be supported through a comprehensive training programme to gradually build up your knowledge and skill set to achieve HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration as a Biomedical scientist via completion of the IBMS Registration Portfolio.
Biomedical scientists work in healthcare laboratories diagnosing diseases and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment by analysing patient samples such as bloods, fluids and tissue samples. Biomedical Scientists are considered the 'engine room' of modern medicine with approximately 70% to 80% of diagnoses in the NHS based on pathological results provided by laboratory services.
Upon graduation we strive to have opportunities within the business for you to move into a permanent qualified Biomedical Scientist position.
Starting salary will be £26,457.20 with appropriate regional uplifts up to 20%, with all university tuition fees paid for by the apprenticeship levy.
