We’re on a mission to provide equitable access to economic opportunity, for everyone. We close critical skill gaps in the workforce through a new kind of apprenticeship that combines work and learning. We begin by recognizing high-potential individuals both inside and outside of a company's current workforce and then we create applied, guided and equitable learning programs, with measurable impact. Because we believe the world needs a better way to match its potential. We work with over 1,500 leading companies including the likes of Microsoft, Citi and Just Eat to help solve their business-critical problems, and we’ve trained over 16,000 professional apprentices in the tech and data skills of the future. This is made possible by our global team who are driven to achieve a mission that matters, together. Join Multiverse and help us set a new course for work. The Role We’re looking for a hands-on, thoughtful engineering leader to lead our Core Services, Platform, Infrastructure, and Developer Experience teams. These teams are foundational to how engineering happens at Multiverse—they build the systems and tools that underpin our product architecture, and they shape how all engineers build, ship, and operate software. We’re not looking for a top-down operator. You’ll be working closely with other engineering leaders, product managers, and technical ICs to evolve our platform and engineering culture, while supporting teams to do their best work. This is a strategic role with high impact—but it’s also grounded in collaboration, technical leadership, and real-world delivery. We’re betting big on developer experience and AI-native tooling as force multipliers for the whole company. You’ll play a key role in setting direction and helping teams adopt these tools in a way that’s pragmatic, human-centered, and high-leverage. What You’ll Do Lead and support multiple teams across platform engineering, internal tools, DevEx, and core services. Partner with engineers, product teams, and security to ensure our foundation is reliable, scalable, and empowering—not restrictive Drive the evolution of our internal platform, from service templates to paved paths to generative tooling. Guide our infrastructure as code strategy Expand our use of AI-native tools (e.g. copilots, intelligent observability, auto-remediation, test generation) to make teams more effective Drive the evolution of our infrastructure—cloud-native, secure by default, observable, and easy to reason about. Improve how engineers at Multiverse build, test, and ship code—ensuring fast feedback loops, low-friction tooling, and clear quality standards. Help us build and maintain systems that are easy to operate and resilient by design. Foster an inclusive, growth-oriented culture that values impact over perfection and gives engineers space to thrive. Actively mentor and grow other engineering leaders What You Bring Experience leading platform or infrastructure teams in a scaling tech company, with a strong understanding of backend services, cloud systems, and DevEx. A track record of improving developer experience and building systems that reduce toil and increase leverage. A deep interest in how AI can augment engineering workflows—and experience helping teams adopt these tools thoughtfully and sustainably. Comfort working in and evolving service-oriented/event driven architectures, and a solid grounding in modern infrastructure practices (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, observability). Strong collaboration and communication skills. You can connect across disciplines and levels and lead with empathy and clarity. Experience managing managers Bonus Points For Familiarity with developer platforms that support machine learning, data, or applied AI Experience with Backstage or other internal developer portals Exposure to platform support for ML/LLM workflows Comfort with evolving systems from monoliths to modular architecture Why Join Us?
