Overview
To deliver accredited First Aid programmes and assist in the delivery and assessment of Forest School Leader Training courses and other qualifications run by TOG. The Trainer will play a vital role in maintaining the high quality of educational provision at The Outdoors Group, supporting learners' development, and ensuring courses meet course specification and criteria, and are delivered in an engaging, relevant, and effective manner.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a range of accredited First Aid training courses in line with awarding body requirements (currently ITC) and The Outdoors Group standards.
* Assist in the delivery and assessment of Forest School Leader Training courses (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3). Appropriate training will be offered to upskill where required.
* Support the strategic growth, development and continual improvement of training programs offered by The Outdoors Group.
* Maintain accurate records of learner progress, assessments, and course administration in line with internal and external quality assurance procedures.
* Provide clear and constructive feedback to learners to support their progression and success.
* Liaise with the Lead Trainer, Training Coordinator and Head of Forest School & Training to ensure smooth operation of training delivery and associated administrative tasks.
* Prepare resources and materials required for training sessions and ensure training sites are well maintained, fit for purpose, safe and meeting all Health and Safety requirements and TOG standards.
* Attend standardisation meetings, team meetings, and internal training sessions as required.
* Work across multiple sites as needed to support training delivery across the region.
* Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies.
* Engage with and support wider company aims, including team development days and skill-sharing sessions.
* This post may require occasional weekend/evening work, providing courses accompanied by another trainer/team member.
* Safeguarding & Compliance: This role requires an enhanced DBS check. All staff are expected to complete safeguarding training and adhere to The Outdoors Group's Safeguarding Policy. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
* There is no direct line management responsibility, but the role involves mentoring learners. Opportunities for career development, including progression to Lead Trainer or Internal Quality Assurer roles, will be available. This is a growing business area with an ambitious strategy for growth, and more roles and progression areas will develop with its success.
* This role involves working across multiple sites in Devon. A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are highly desirable. Flexibility to travel to different sites and adapt to changing timetables is essential.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience delivering training and assessing learners.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* A proactive, positive approach to working with adults in training environments.
* Personable, friendly, and effective at communicating with a broad range of people with different learning styles.
* Desirable: Experience delivering accredited courses in outdoor settings.
* Knowledge of current best practices in outdoor learning and education.
* Experience in PRICE/GSA (positive behavior support and physical intervention).
* Experience in working in educational settings.
* Previous experience in line management responsibilities.

* Forest School Leader Level 3 qualification (or willingness to achieve this).
* Recognised trainer qualifications (e.g., ITC, Qualsafe, or equivalent).

* Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification (or willingness to achieve this).
* Level 4 Forest School qualification (desirable).
* Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification (desirable).

Remuneration
£26,168-£34,890 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
