A quick look at the role
The role will ensure the infrastructure is in place to enable the business to respond quickly and effectively to clients' needs, resulting in first-class customer service.
The Contract Manager will continually strive for improvements in contract performance, benefiting both the client and our business in areas such as EBIT targets, recycling and resource initiatives, legislative compliance, and health & safety.
Your Core Responsibilities
1. Manage the day-to-day operation of the contract, including service levels, sub-contractors, and maintaining suppliers' KPIs, health and safety in accordance with legislation, Biffa guidelines, and environmental compliance.
2. Grow and improve the profitability of the account through enhanced commercial performance, upselling, new streams, and debt management.
3. Produce monthly reports and management information, including data for customer CSR reporting and delivery of contractual KPIs.
4. Implement waste minimisation programmes and initiatives to reduce costs, improve environmental performance, and enhance waste handling practices.
5. Maintain comprehensive records of all waste leaving site(s), ensuring compliance and security checks.
6. Develop and grow customer sites concerning waste disposal, identifying and implementing best practices for excellent service and account management.
7. Partner with the Client and General Manager to explore new business opportunities and develop existing services.
8. Operate within short planning horizons (3-6 months) aligned with the Division's Business Plan.
9. Ensure solutions meet health, safety, environmental standards, and contractual constraints, with some scope for price negotiation with third-party suppliers.
10. This is a regional, hands-on role requiring relationship management, negotiation, and people management skills.
