Experienced Senior Architectural Technologist to lead the technical development of projects from planning through to delivery within the residential care or retirement living sectors.

You will play a key role in ensuring designs are fully coordinated, buildable, and compliant, while supporting the development team in delivering high-quality built environments.
Based in our partnered clients Leeds office, conveniently located just off the M62, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a range of residential, care, and retirement living projects, and to take ownership of your work from feasibility through to construction.

You will work on projects recognised for delivering high-quality built environments that enrich communities. These include multi-room residential accommodation, care homes, and retirement living developments, often as part of a full turnkey delivery, from land acquisition and planning through design and construction.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Architectural Technologist
Technical Design & Delivery
Manage the technical development of architectural designs through all RIBA stages, from planning to build stage.
Produce and coordinate technical drawings, specifications, and construction information to ensure accuracy, compliance, and buildability.
Assist in preparing documentation for statutory approval and liaise with relevant authorities as required.
Support feasibility layouts for prospective sites in collaboration with the Land Team.
Project Coordination & Management
Work closely with the development team to manage the design process across multiple projects.
Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth technical delivery.
Conduct regular site visits to review progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure designs are realised on site.
Mentoring & Development
Provide guidance and support to junior technicians and designers.
Contribute to process improvements and the development of best-practice technical standards.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Proven experience in roles such as Assistant Architectural Technician, Architectural Technician, or Building Technologist.
Experience managing the technical design and delivery of projects from planning through to construction.
Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit/BIM and AutoCAD.
Excellent technical knowledge of UK building regulations, planning requirements, and construction methods.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), ideally Chartered (MCIAT), or actively working towards chartership.
Experience in residential, care, retirement living, or large-scale institutional projects.
A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
Minimum 5-10 years PQE within a UK based Architectural Practice or Consultancy.
