To maintain the highest standards of racehorse welfare and ensure the integrity of British Horseracing, this role requires working between 40 to 60 days per annum.

Principal Responsibilities: Raceday Horse Health and Welfare: Monitor racehorses for signs of infectious or contagious disease, lameness or injury, and inform the Veterinary Officer of concerns.
Ensure good horse management principles are followed.
Monitor stable yard facilities and report concerns.
Assist veterinary staff as needed (e.g., restraining horses).
Control and record all admissions to the Stable Yard.
Identify horses using microchip scanning and passport verification, reporting anomalies.
Follow passport protocols and checks.
Patrol the Stable Yard for safety and security.
Operate CCTV at the Stable Yard.
Uphold racing rules regarding substances and equipment.
Report relevant information to the Equine and Integrity Departments.
Undertake occasional night shift security duties.
Prepare the Sampling Unit according to hygiene standards.
Assist with post-race sampling and stalls tests as advised.
Support Veterinary Officers with sampling procedures.
Represent and support the British Horseracing Authority positively.
Contribute ideas to improve the EWIO department.
Non-raceday Attend out-of-competition visits for sampling and anti-doping controls.
Participate in team meetings.
Assist with sampling at Point to Point meetings.
Identify horses during welfare inspections.
Provide intelligence feedback to Integrity Services.
Other duties Potential training and assistance at the Centre for Racehorse Studies (CRS).
Participate in projects and pilots as required.
