Job Description
Ibk is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years’ experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person.
Job Summary
IBK are currently supporting a family in the S12 area to find a PA for their teenage son.
Having Autism, the family are looking for someone who can teach and support the young man to learn to interact with others and have more of an understanding about the world around him. Being non-verbal and sometimes can display some challenging behaviours, he needs an individual who is calm and has the initiative during these situations and learn and acknowledge his love of routine and structure in his day to day life.
The main focus of the role will involve keeping the young man engaged with his activities he enjoys, while keeping him safe. Described as a 'bundle of mischief' by his family, he loves getting out and about whether this is going to the woods or the park. He also enjoys trampolining, swimming and his sensory toys.
Training will be provided for this role, which will involve understanding his routines to help the individual feel safe with you. This will either be done alongside the young persons Dad or one of his established PA's.
There will be some personal care as part of this role and you will need to be a car driver with use of a vehicle and business insurance in order to escort this young person on his outings.
- Have experience of working with young people with ASD and behaviours that might be challenging
- Willing to learn from the young man, his current \PA's and his family
- Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.
- Be respectful in the family home

- Have a genuine desire to enhance the young person’s life and boost their self-confidence and independence.
- Be physically capable of carrying out tasks described.
- Have an open mind and approach to support
- A car driver with use of a car for work (petrol costs of 45p p/m are reimbursed by the family)
- Experience of using PECs
- Experience of working with people with communication difficulties and autism
- Hobbies and interests you may share with the young person
Working a 0 hours contract
Covering Weekends and school holidays on a casual basis
There may also be opportunity for additional hours during school holidays and to cover staff annual leave or sickness.
