The Opportunity
The South Metropolitan Region comprises of five Child Protection Districts, including Cannington, Armadale, Fremantle, Rockingham and Mandurah (Binjareb). This recruitment process will establish a pool of suitable candidates to fill vacancies across these locations. Only applicants who are willing to work in these locations should apply.
As Team Leader Child Safety, you will work in the areas of child protection, children in care and family support. This role is responsible for, but not limited to:
1. Leading and managing a District team delivering child protection services under the Children and Community Services Act 2004, ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing.
2. Supervising and supporting case workers in complex child protection work, including intervention decisions and case management for families and children in care.
3. Chairing planning forums and contributing to complex case work and broader District planning alongside the District Director.
4. Allocating resources, managing workloads, and maintaining team capability through supervision, collaboration, and staff development.
5. Monitoring and reporting on team performance, ensuring quality assurance of case documentation and compliance with reporting requirements.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 18 months across the Department of Communities.
Qualification Requirements
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
