We currently seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor (Monday – Friday) in or around the Newbury area. Previous experience must include working with either PSV, PCV, Bus, Coach, HGV, Trucks or Heavy Vehicle. You will be responsible for leading by supervising maintenance staff, ensuring all vehicles are serviced, inspected, and repaired to the highest standard, and that safety, quality, and operational targets are met. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact and will be key to delivering engineering excellence in a time-sensitive environment. Duties & Responsibilities: * Supervise and support a team of technicians and cleaning staff on shift, ensuring effective task allocation and workflow. * Oversee vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with company and DVSA standards. * Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures. * Monitor vehicle availability and liaise with the Operations team to minimise vehicle downtime. * Conduct quality checks on completed work and ensure accurate and timely documentation is maintained. * Provide hands-on technical support where necessary, especially for urgent or complex faults. * Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. * Participate in team briefings and handover meetings to ensure seamless communication between shifts. * Support the Engineering Manager with performance management, training, and development of staff. * Help implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet reliability and workshop productivity. Skills: * Time-served technician with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Engineering. * Proven experience in a supervisory or team-leading role within a fleet or workshop environment. * Strong technical knowledge of PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicles) or HGVs. * Good understanding of DVSA regulations and maintenance compliance standards. * Excellent communication and leadership skills. * Flexible approach to working hours and problem-solving. * Computer literate, ideally experienced with fleet maintenance software. In return, this position is offering: An excellent salary of salary of £25.00 per hour (£50,000). If you work past 6pm your rate increases by £4.10 to £29.10 per hour. And if you are required to come in during a weekend you will be paid £33.33 per hour. To confirm, this is a Monday – Friday position.
