Senior Motor Control Systems Engineer
Working with a leader in the Aviation and Defence industry, we seek a Senior Motor Control Systems Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, and validation of advanced motor control algorithms. The role involves full lifecycle ownership — from concept to deployment — ensuring that performance and reliability targets are successfully achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop control algorithms for analogue and digital systems, typically focused on BLDC motor control.
* Perform system modelling and performance analysis of selected control algorithms.
* Define sub-system requirements across mechanical, electronics, and software domains.
* Select and validate suitable electromechanical components, including motors and feedback sensors.
* Develop and execute design verification and validation plans, including data analysis and reporting.
To be considered for this role you will have the following skills/experience:
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in the design and development of control algorithms for digital control systems.
* Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and Embedded Coder for model-based design and deployment.
* Strong analytical skills in modelling complex electromechanical systems such as sensors, motors, and drivetrains.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Desired Skills and Experience:
* Experience translating high-level customer requirements into detailed sub-system or component specifications.
* Knowledge of Field-Oriented Control (FOC) or Space Vector PWM (SVPWM) techniques.
* Understanding of relevant aerospace or safety-critical standards such as DO-178C or DO-331.
To be considered for this role, given the industry and security clearance needed, you MUST hold British Citizenship (Sole nationals and Dual nationals can be considered).
