Deliver primary medical services via surgeries, clinics, and visits as defined in the job plan. Make professionally autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the organization. Assess patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed issues to determine their healthcare needs. Develop care plans collaboratively with patients, providing counseling and health education. Admit or discharge patients from caseloads and refer them to other care providers as appropriate. Collaborate with and support other health professionals within the team to ensure optimal patient care.
Provide clinical leadership for the delivery of the clinical service, including identifying and implementing key processes that support the service, understanding how these processes add value to patient care, appointing appropriate leaders, and promoting the IntraHealth vision of health delivery. Participate in recruiting high-quality staff and support systems for mentoring, appraisal, professional development, and support. Continuously improve process reliability within the specialty to achieve high-quality care outcomes.
Maintain a patient-focused approach, promote a culture of change and innovation, and eliminate wasteful activities. Ensure active implementation of the Clinical Governance agenda to achieve safe clinical practice and cost-effectiveness. Meet national quality requirements and contractual obligations, monitor performance against access, triage, and clinical intervention targets, and implement action plans for areas not meeting standards.
Manage clinical complaints in accordance with procedures, ensuring timely resolution. Review and provide feedback on staff performance, significant events, clinical incidents, and patient satisfaction surveys. Ensure contingency plans and escalation procedures are effective. Maintain policies for record keeping that comply with Data Protection, Access to Records, and Freedom of Information laws. Participate in recruiting clinical staff and support the development of clinical roles among other healthcare professionals.
