The Role
The Mental Health Assessment Unit (MHAU), part of the Unscheduled Care Service, offers a Band 6 Registered Mental Nurse a full‑time, 12‑month secondment. The MHAU provides same‑day face‑to‑face assessment, diagnosis and treatment options for individuals who would normally be directed to emergency services. Referrals are accepted from Emergency Departments within the region, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, GP’s, and NHS24. The successful candidate will conduct assessments within the unit and at an outreach facility where required. Excellent communication skills, familiarity with mental health assessment, and a full driving licence are essential. A robust teaching programme is embedded within the service.
