Offer description

A leading main contractor is seeking a Planner to join its Tayside team, supporting a varied portfolio of building projects across the region. The role spans both bid and contract stages and would suit someone who enjoys the analytical, sequencing and problem‑solving side of project delivery, with a strong grasp of modern construction techniques.

Key responsibilities

Prepare bid‑stage programmes, appraising site constraints, build type, location, client requirements and available design information.

Assist in developing detailed tender programmes with operations and planning leads, ensuring supply chain “buy‑in” and fully logic‑linked programmes.

Manage the transfer of programmes from bid to contract stage, including assumptions, outputs, logistics, supply chain agreements and time‑risk allowances.

Develop contract programmes that reflect design, procurement, manufacture and installation requirements, and interfaces between trades.

Help prepare Master Information Delivery Plans and procurement schedules with the project team.

Monitor and record progress against the critical path on both client and internal programmes, including commentary on float consumption.

Prepare clear progress reports with the Project Manager for client meetings and internal reviews.

Support programme updates and revisions due to client change, variations or recovery measures.

Skills and experience

Sound working knowledge of design, procurement and commercial processes and how they affect planning and programming.

Strong understanding of first‑principles planning, productivity outputs, resource analysis and critical path analysis.

Good knowledge of construction technology, modern construction techniques, and time and resource management.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work in a customer‑focused way.

Able to independently maintain programmes and time‑related data while working collaboratively as part of a project team.

Technical requirements

Proficient user of Asta Powerproject, plus good working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams.

Computer literate and comfortable producing clear reports and visual outputs from planning data.

Full UK driving licence (regional travel as required).
