Experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant - full time at a secondary school in South Manchester
Monday - Friday, Term time only
We are currently seeking an experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time basis in a secondary school in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to promote positive learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting students in the classroom, either one-to-one or in small groups
Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
Providing targeted support to students with additional learning needs (SEN experience desirable)
Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual needs
Implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required
Supporting students with emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement in learning
Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral teams to monitor progress and provide feedback
Promoting inclusion and positive behaviour within the classroom and wider school environment
Assisting with personal or academic support where necessary (depending on pupil needs)
Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and moderate learning difficulties
Supporting students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with individual learning targets
Encouraging student engagement, behaviour, and academic progress
Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific work
Assisting with preparation of learning materials and resources
Supervising students during lessons and school activities as required
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school
Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum (KS3 & KS4)
Proven experience supporting SEN pupils in a secondary school setting
Strong understanding of a range of SEND needs and effective support strategies
Experience working with EHCPs and targeted interventions
Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
