About The Role
As the Regulatory Services Administration Team Leader, you will oversee a busy admin team and ensure day‑to‑day operations run smoothly and efficiently.
You will manage performance, improve administrative systems, support managers across the service, and deliver high‑quality regulatory work. You will also take responsibility for financial processes, the service’s corporate credit card, and effective management of the case management system.
What will you be doing?
* Supervise a team of Service Support Officers, with training, induction, sickness and recruitment responsibilities.
* Schedule and coordinate own work and allocate tasks to others, ensuring completion within prescribed timescales.
* Maintain a working knowledge of Regulatory Services technical administrative functions and provide appropriate support.
* Support Senior Management with data manipulation and maintenance using various IT systems; manage the Systems Administrator and act as a super‑user for the database system.
* Keep thorough knowledge of processes, systems and legislation associated with the service area; ensure the team meets performance indicators and other relevant targets.
* Identify service improvement areas, implement changes, and supervise development and review of associated processes.
* Assist the Head of Service with service support functions for efficient running.
* Undertake additional tasks to support Service Managers in accordance with the role’s functions.
Education
2 A Levels / NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in relevant subjects and extensive experience at Senior administrator level with appropriate literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience allocating work, managing a team and monitoring resources to maintain effective service operation.
* Experience assisting with budget monitoring.
* Demonstrable experience supervising, coaching and mentoring colleagues to achieve performance and development objectives.
* Extensive knowledge of Regulatory Services functions (Environmental Protection, Health Protection, Private Sector Housing, and Trading Standards).
* Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability and Skills
* Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate data and financial information related to the work area, supporting production of management reports and performance data.
* Proven ability to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Awareness of data protection, security and confidentiality.
* High standard of IT skills, including use of case management systems.
* Ability to produce clear and concise written reports and letters for the public.
