Salisbury District Hospital is looking for a Foundation Year One doctor to join the Urology and General Surgery teams as a full‑time FY1. The successful candidate will commence as soon as possible, with an end date of 2nd April 2026.
Responsibilities
* Provide daily care of ward patients in co‑operation with registrars.
* Clerk routine admissions and emergencies; maintain clear and accurate clinical notes.
* Attend the Emergency Department to review cases referred to the department.
* Assist in the operating theatre and in post‑operative recovery for Urology, UGI and Colorectal surgery patients where ward duties permit.
* Participate in ward rounds of combined GI and Urology staff and individual consultants.
* Attend outpatient clinics for formal teaching of regional examination and clinical injuries where possible.
* Encourage and support the post holder to carry out research if desired.
* Attend educational sessions, including the specifically designed Junior Medical Staff course, with protected time for education on Friday afternoons if not on duty.
* Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (weekend and long day) for Urology & General Surgery on a 1:11 basis.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
* Right to work in the UK (see eligibility criteria on the gov.uk website).
