Teaching assistant (unqualified)

Salisbury
Protocol Education
Teaching assistant
Posted: 12 June
Offer description

Protocol Education is working closely with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Bishopston that is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 2.

The school is keen to hear from candidates who have experience working with children, whether that's in a school, nursery, youth work, coaching or another child-centred setting. You don't need a formal TA qualification to be considered – what matters most is your ability to build positive relationships, support learning and be a consistent, reliable presence for pupils.

This role will involve supporting children across Years 3 to 6, both in the classroom and through small group interventions. Some pupils may need additional support with confidence, behaviour, emotional regulation or learning, so the school is looking for someone who is patient, resilient and able to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.

You'll be joining a welcoming staff team where support staff are valued and encouraged to contribute to the wider school community. The school prides itself on creating a positive environment where children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

The Role

* Supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 classrooms
* Working with small groups to reinforce literacy and numeracy skills
* Providing one-to-one support where required
* Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
* Supporting children with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs
* Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
* Working closely with teachers to support pupil progress
* Assisting with transitions, playtimes and other aspects of the school day

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, and would suit someone who enjoys being active, building relationships and making a difference to children's school experience.

Why Choose Protocol Education?

* Flexible opportunities to suit your availability
* Weekly pay
* Competitive daily rates of £91–£97 per day
* Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
* Opportunities to gain further classroom experience
* Easy-to-use booking system
* £250 PAYE referral bonus for recommending a friend

Location: Bishopston, BS7
Pay: £91–£97 per day

About You

* Experience working with children in schools, childcare, sports coaching, youth work or similar settings
* Comfortable supporting children aged 7–11
* Patient, positive and approachable
* Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
* Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
* Experience supporting SEND or SEMH needs is desirable but not essential
* Keen to develop your experience within education

What We Need to Clear You

* Passport or proof of right to work
* Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence, utility bill, council tax statement, P45 or P60
* CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
* Two years of references, including childcare or education references where applicable
* Overseas Police Check (OSPC) if you have lived overseas for three months or more in the last five years

If you're an experienced support worker, coach, childcare practitioner or Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in a supportive BS7 primary school, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
