We are seeking calm, reflective professionals to become Step Forward Foster Carers, providing a safe and stable home for young people transitioning from residential care. This role allows you to apply your therapeutic skills in a meaningful family setting.
What is Step Forward Fostering? Step Forward Fostering is a pioneering program supporting young people who have experienced trauma, instability, and loss, helping them transition into nurturing home environments. These young people need consistent, caring adults who understand emotional dysregulation and trauma responses.
As a Step Forward Foster Carer, you'll be part of a multi-agency team that values your therapeutic awareness. You won't be alone on this journey.
What You’ll Receive Supporting young people with complex emotional needs is demanding. We provide full support, including practical, emotional, and financial assistance from day one.
Your own Senior Practitioner for supervision and guidance
A Family Wellbeing Worker to support you and the young person
A Hub Carer providing up to 28 days of planned short breaks annually
24/7 Out-of-Hours Support
Peer support network of other Step Forward Carers
Ongoing training in trauma-informed care and neurodevelopmental needs
Access to therapeutic and psychological support
Financial Package We offer generous financial support to help you create a safe, stable, and therapeutic environment:
£1,052 per week while a child is placed with you (approx. £54,704/year)
£408 per week retainer between placements (up to £21,216/year)
Additional allowances for birthdays, holidays, and cultural celebrations
Tax exemptions designed for foster carers
Are You a Good Fit? We’re looking for CBT Therapists who are:
Passionate about mental health and emotional wellbeing
Skilled in managing trauma, anxiety, low mood, and behavioral challenges
Calm, resilient, and capable of creating structure and emotional safety
Ready to bring therapeutic insights into a family setting
Eligibility Requirements Full-time availability and a spare bedroom
Willingness to undertake professional training
Right to work in the UK
