Ellwood Atfield is delighted to be partnering with International Airlines Group (IAG) to appoint a Government Affairs Manager.
Formed in January 2011, IAG is the parent company of British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, Aer Lingus, LEVEL, IAG Loyalty, and IAG Cargo. IAG’s purpose is to connect people, businesses, and countries. It connects more than 250 destinations globally, transports 115 million passengers each year, and carries valuable cargo to enable global trade.
The Government Affairs Manager will sit within the Corporate Affairs team and report to the Head of UK & International Affairs.
Key responsibilities
* Managing the development of IAG's policy positions and influencing activities in the UK to support group strategic priorities.
* Managing aspects of IAG’s international affairs, helping its operating companies secure market access and address business issues.
* Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop group policy positions.
* Producing clear and convincing written materials to support policy influencing activities, including letters to political stakeholders and consultation responses.
Experience required
* Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
* Public affairs influencing experience, gained in-house, from agencies, Parliament, or government.
* Thorough knowledge of UK political institutions, policy development, and the legislative process.
* Understanding of the regulatory environment for international aviation.
