Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse with an interest in working in our CYPF Health Hub, CAMHS Common Point of Entry Service as a Mental Health Practitioner? Then we at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) have an exciting opportunity for you!
This opportunity involves responding to complex referrals to the CAMHS team, conducting initial triage and telephone assessments of children or young people, including risk assessments and recommendations for ongoing care. You will review incoming referrals, undertake structured telephone triage, and develop formulations to determine the mental health needs, assessing risks and signposting to appropriate services.
You will also provide advice and consultation to referrers, colleagues, and families regarding symptoms, risks, or referral needs. Additionally, you will identify cases requiring detailed face-to-face assessments within CPE and prioritize accordingly.

* Triage, assessment, and formulation of young people presenting to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
* Consulting with professionals making referrals.
* Conducting telephone assessments of referred young people.
* Performing face-to-face assessments.
* Working flexibly across multiple sites.
* Reviewing clinical records.
* Managing waiting lists through data review.
* Collaborating within a team of skilled CAMHS clinicians.
* Providing front door access to comprehensive CAMHS.

* Registered Mental Health Nurse or other qualified healthcare professional.

Person specification
Education/Qualification/Training
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC), Child or MH branch nurse, or Occupational Therapist with registration, or qualified psychotherapist with professional registration.
* Masters level or significant mental health experience.
* HCPC Registered Practitioner/Social Worker or postgraduate qualification in clinical/counselling psychology.
* Additional relevant qualifications and training in child mental health.
Continuous Professional Development
* Skills in managing complex, sensitive information and engaging children, young people, and carers.
* Evidence of involvement in care planning and service development.
* Post-qualification learning evidence.
Previous Experience
* Working assertively with children and young people.
* Knowledge and experience in mental health.
* Teamwork and independent clinical decision-making skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Understanding of national guidance and policies in children’s mental health.
* Knowledge of health and social care systems, safeguarding, and legal frameworks.
