My client in Oxfordshire is seeking a Food Safety Officer to support their Environmental Health team during a period of transition. This is an initial 6-month contract aimed at stabilising the service following the departure of a permanent team member and an increase in workload.
You will be responsible for:
* Conducting food hygiene inspections in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice
* Investigating food complaints and responding to service requests
* Supporting food safety enforcement and compliance activities
* Providing input on food-related licensing and planning applications where required
This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), with a mix of remote and on-site work across the district. Site visits will be essential, particularly for inspections and complaint investigations. Flexibility can be offered for the right candidate.
Requirements include:
* Competency to undertake food hygiene inspections (CPD and registration with the CIEH or equivalent)
* Up-to-date knowledge of food safety legislation
* Experience working within a local authority setting is highly desirable
