Are you passionate about perinatal mental health? If so, we are currently looking for enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and self-motivated individuals to join our multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality, person-centred support to people accessing care under the Perinatal Mental Health Service.
We are seeking an individual with lived experience of mental health difficulties within the perinatal period to join us as a Perinatal Peer Support Worker in our Mid and North East Hampshire area.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Perinatal Community Mental Health Team offers mental health support and services for birthing people and their families during pregnancy and up to 24 months postpartum. The team prioritizes individuals with moderate to severe and complex mental health needs. It also provides consultation, advice, information, and signposting for those with less severe mental health issues during the perinatal period, working with primary care providers including GPs, health visitors, and maternity services.
Peer Support Workers are individuals with previous experience of using mental health services, employed, trained, and supported to use their experiences to support others. The role focuses on building safe, trusting relationships based on shared lived experiences, enabling individuals to discover and utilize their strengths, and fostering connections within their communities.
The successful candidate will work alongside existing Peer Support Workers. The team is based at Southern House in Otterbourne near Winchester.
This role is part of an innovative service providing specialist assessment, support, and treatment for women and birthing people and their families. The service is an early adopter of developing a Maternity Mental Health Service and maintains close links with NHS Talking Therapy services to ensure clear pathways for women and birthing people during antenatal and postnatal periods.
We offer comprehensive induction, including peer shadowing, and opportunities to expand knowledge in Perinatal Mental Health care. The Trust also provides a full Peer Support training package and opportunities to network within the Peer Support Worker community, supported by a dedicated Lead.
