To ensure the effective management of the overall finances and administration across the organisation including HR/PA/Governance. Provide advice and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors of the organisation in relation to its finances.
Responsibilities
* Contribute as part of the Senior Management Team to the development of the strategy and ensuring the implementation of the agreed annual operating plan within area of remit.
* Ensure the functions of the department are delivered in line with the vision, aims, values and agreed performance objectives / key performance indicators.
* Provide effectively leadership, management, support and motivation to the team.
* Ensure the preparation of relevant budgets.
* Ensure cash flow forecasts are prepared and updated based on the annual budget, and to regularly monitor and update same.
* Ensure all book-keeping and finance administration activities are undertaken and performed in line with financial policies, procedures and legal obligations and that the necessary financial controls are in place.
* Ensure all statutory financial and associated returns are completed and submitted including VAT and otherwise as required.
* Oversee and ensure the correct processing of all payments as agreed including invoicing, wages, payment of income tax, national insurance, pension contributions etc and process the relevant correspondence.
* Take the lead on preparing relevant applications for funding and take part where necessary in negotiations regarding finance.Lead the finance meetings of Causeway & Mid-Ulster Women’s Aid.
* Ensure participation in Area and Regional work of Women’s Aid including attendance at relevant regional meetings, training, etc as relevant.
* Oversee and manage all recruitment processes to ensure compliance and the preparation and submission of annual monitoring return and year three return for the Equal Opportunity Commission.
* Attend Management Team meetings, ensure good communication and promote a sense of one team across the organisation.
Skills and Qualifications
* Accounts Technician Qualification - AAT / ATI qualification OR Ability to demonstrate through experience that AAT/ATI level of knowledge has been attained.
* Minimum of 12 months experience managing finance functions.
* Experience with charity-specific financial software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
* Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
