Scope
The Technical Administrator specialising in Data Packs will be based on-site at Templecombe, providing administrative and operational support to the Under Water Systems (UWS) programme. This role includes providing technical assistance to engineering systems, supplier coordination, and configuration management for ongoing and future maritime projects. The role involves collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure the delivery of systems that meet mission requirements while adhering to On Time, On Quality, On Cost (OTOQOC) principles.
Role
To ensure there is clear ownership and accountability for Data Pack accuracy and maturity, prevent obsolete data from being sent to suppliers, and manage non-conformance. The role aims to target and reduce Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and minimise their impact on current production and future projects. The role requires (or prefers) an individual with previous System Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical backgrounds and PALMA experience.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and resolve Data Pack issues.
* Ensure open Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Purchase Requests (PRs) are communicated to suppliers.
* Act as the SPOC (Single Point of Contact) for all Data Pack inquiries and activities.
* Raise Problem Reports for Obsolete Components.
* Identify possible alternatives for Obsolete Components for review by the Design Authority.
* Support Change Control Boards by providing input on issues blocking Procurement.
* Review Data Packs to identify common trends and issues; compile lessons learned.
* Quantify Data Pack work for planning and estimation purposes.
* Conduct Data Pack maturity assessment and prepare corresponding reports.
* Develop and maintain an agreed process flowchart for Data Pack management.
* Reduce NCRs and their impact on current production and future projects.
* Correct Part Numbers across Data Packs and related documentation.
* Generate Baseline Change Notices (BCNs) as required.
* Identify incorrect or inconsistent drawings and work with projects to update data.
* Work with projects to update data; coordinate with PDA’s (Project Data Administrators) / DA (Design Authorities) as appropriate.
* Participate in PALMA-related activities where applicable.
* Ensure alignment with UTOQOC principles (On Time, On Quality, On Cost).
Required Experience
Essential
* Previous System Engineering background.
* Mechanical and Electrical background.
* PALMA background.
* Experience reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and packages of technical information for accuracy.
* Background in procurement, supplier coordination, and inventory management.
* Experience with configuration management systems and tools.
Desirable
* Prior experience in maritime or defence project support.
Required Skills
* Data extraction, triage, review, and feedback.
* Strong organizational and time management abilities.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills.
* Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining compliance and safety standards.
* Ability to develop and maintain process flows and maturity assessments.
Required Education
* Mainly administrative qualifications with an engineering background (preferred).
* PALMA-related training or exposure is a plus, if applicable.
