Job Description – Factory Manager Location: Orkney Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 (dependent on experience) Sector: Food Manufacturing About the Role We are seeking an experienced and driven Factory Manager to lead all site operations for a successful food manufacturing business based in Orkney. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Factory Manager will be accountable for production, quality, safety, and people management, ensuring the factory consistently delivers against performance targets. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with a proven background in food or FMCG manufacturing, who thrives on driving efficiency, continuous improvement, and team development in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day factory operations, ensuring production schedules are met on time, in full, and to the highest quality standards. Manage and develop a diverse operations team, promoting a positive culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Drive site performance KPIs across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people development. Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards, including BRC and HACCP requirements. Develop and deliver site budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures within agreed financial targets. Identify and implement process improvements to maximise efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to align business objectives. Champion health & safety, embedding a proactive safety-first culture across the factory. Candidate Profile Proven experience as a Factory Manager, Production Manager, or Operations Manager within the food or FMCG sector. Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams. Excellent knowledge of food manufacturing standards, including HACCP, BRC, and H&S legislation. Commercially astute with experience managing budgets and driving cost savings. A continuous improvement mindset, with demonstrable success in delivering efficiency and productivity gains. Resilient, adaptable, and hands-on, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
