Offer description

W Talent Manufacturing is proud to be partnering with Arbor Forest Products Ltd in the search for a Days Based, Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team at the Barrow‑upon‑Humber facility. Arbor Forest Products Ltd was founded in 1951 and, since rebranding from Howarth Timber Importers in 2007, has become one of the UK's largest independent timber importers and processors.

Operating from a dedicated 90‑acre site on the Humber, they supply over 250,000 m³ of quality timber annually via their port and state‑of‑the‑art sawmill and treatment facilities. While investing heavily across its operations, including a £6 million sawmill upgrade and advanced MDF treatment lines Arbor retains a strong family culture under the umbrella of Howarth Timber Group. The company emphasises four cultural pillars: Ambition, Family, Care and Quality, fostering innovation, sustainability, and ethical practices throughout their full supply chain.

Role Overview

Due to continued investment, Arbor Forest is now looking to hire a forward-thinking, highly driven Maintenance Supervisor who will work closely with the Engineering Manager and fellow supervisors to effectively lead and plan a team of multi-disciplined engineers. Additionally, you will introduce and implement improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and availability of production equipment, while ensuring the engineering teams operate safely, responsibly, and in line with current legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coordinate, and support the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure high equipment availability and performance.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and ensure timely resolution to minimise downtime.
Support the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, overhauls, and project work.
Develop and enhance the PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) system to shift towards a more proactive maintenance culture.
Liaise with production, engineering, and management teams to prioritise maintenance activities in line with operational needs.
Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant legislation and site procedures.
Teach, coach, and mentor apprentices to support skills development and succession planning.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and cost efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team of engineers within a manufacturing, FMCG, or high-speed continuous process environment. You will be qualified to HNC level or have completed a formal apprenticeship in either electrical or mechanical engineering, with multi-disciplined knowledge across electrical and mechanical systems. While experience in developing and operating a PPM or CMMS system would be highly advantageous, it is not essential.

Salary and Benefits

This Monday to Friday, days-based role offers a highly competitive salary, dependent on your background and transferable skills, and is a fantastic opportunity to join a company recently recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work in 2025, an achievement they are incredibly proud of. With opportunities for both internal and external development, you'll have the chance to make a real impact within a growing and expanding business.

All interviews will be conducted by W Talent, and any direct or external applications will be forwarded to the recruitment agency for review
