Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to lead technical delivery across a range of projects. You will play a key role in designing, reviewing, and implementing control and instrumentation solutions, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement, leveraging the latest technologies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver technical solutions across diverse projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and company procedures
* Mentor and guide junior engineers, reviewing their work to maintain high-quality outcomes
* Proactively identify opportunities for improvements in time, cost, and safety
* Stay abreast of industry developments, new technologies, and legislative changes, advising the company accordingly
* Support the development and enhancement of company policies, tools, and processes to boost efficiency
* Demonstrate adherence to relevant engineering procedures, policies, and standards
Competencies:
* Strong influencing, negotiating, and decision-making skills
* Excellent communication and team-building capabilities
* Experienced in coaching, mentoring, and managing performance
* Proficient in interpreting and creating instrument and analytical datasheets, SIL verification (BS EN 61508/61511), P&IDs, loop diagrams, cable schedules, hazardous area classification, and more
* Familiarity with fire and gas systems design, alarm management, and HMI design
* Skilled in control system and field instrument selection, material take-off, site surveys, and 3D modeling (Navisworks)
Requirements:
* Educated to HND or Degree level, Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
* Proven experience as a Control & Instrumentation Engineer with leadership and team management skills
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills across all organizational levels
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and professionally
* Full clean driving license with willingness to travel within the UK occasionally
* Flexibility to work remotely or alone when required
