SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary SLD Location: Pinner, North West London Start Date: ASAP / September Start Available Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only UES1 A specialist secondary SEN provision in Pinner is seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). About the Role As a Secondary SLD Teaching Assistant, you will: * Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SLD and additional needs * Support pupils with communication, engagement, and emotional regulation * Assist in delivering multi-sensory and personalised learning activities * Support students with daily routines, life skills, and independence * Provide personal care and mobility support where required * Work alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement EHCP targets * Help maintain a structured, calm, and inclusive classroom environment Requirements * Experience working with SLD or complex SEN needs * Confidence supporting personal care and physical needs * Understanding of sensory learning approaches and communication strategies * Strong teamwork and communication skills * Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – essential Desirable * Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils * Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems * Background in care, support work, or specialist education What’s on Offer * ASAP or September start available * Supportive and experienced SEN team * Opportunities for training and professional development * Well-resourced specialist setting * A highly rewarding role making a real difference to students’ lives and futures
