About The Role

Maintenance Technician

Are you ready to bring your electrical or mechanical expertise to a new frontier? At Sizewell B Power Station, you’ll play a vital role in helping the UK achieve Net Zero. Join our Maintenance Team and be part of a dynamic environment where your skills contribute directly to a sustainable future.

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Technician at EDF UK, you’ll be part of a collaborative team maintaining critical systems at Sizewell B Power Station. Whether your background is in electrical or mechanical maintenance, your technical skills and adaptability will be key to our success.

We’re seeking individuals who thrive in team settings, communicate effectively, and are eager to grow. Your flexibility and commitment will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of our nuclear power station.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £42383 - £68958. You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying and reporting safety, environmental, and plant issues promptly. Your work will ensure that maintenance activities are conducted safely and in line with procedures, helping to protect both people and the environment.

You’ll maintain accurate records and provide valuable feedback on plant conditions before and after maintenance. Your insights will help us continuously improve our maintenance programmes and ensure operational excellence.

You’ll also take an active role in your own development, participating in performance appraisals and working towards personal growth goals. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the reliability and safety of our operations.

Who You Are

You bring a solid background in maintenance, ideally gained in power stations, heavy industry, or manufacturing. You’ve completed a time-served Maintenance apprenticeship or equivalent, and hold qualifications at GCSE and Ordinary National Qualification level (or equivalent). Your enthusiasm, organisational skills, and communication abilities make you a valuable team member, and you’re eager to learn and grow.

If you’re an Electrical Technician, you’ll have experience in industrial electrical installation and maintenance, with knowledge of Low and High Voltage switchgear, electrical testing, battery chargers, and Uninterruptable Power Supplies. Familiarity with DSEAR systems is a plus.

If you’re a Mechanical Technician, you’ll be skilled in maintaining pumps, gearboxes, valves, bearings, Overhead Gantry Cranes, pipework flanges, and machine alignment techniques. Your hands-on experience will be essential to keeping our systems running smoothly.

Closing date for applications is 25th August, interviews will follow shortly after.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
