The Vacancy
We have an exciting opportunity for a Guillotine Operator to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Finishing Process Lead, you will be required to ensure guillotine output is maximised and quality standards, including cut registration adherence, are maintained across the process whilst adhering to health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure guillotines are run in a safe & proper manner
2. Maximise guillotine efficiency to produce consistently high output and quality including interfacing with Bay leaders and quality control to ensure quality cut standards are achieved with minimum spoilage.
3. Problem solving on the guillotine, identifying technical problems, and providing solutions.
4. Control and monitor associated paperwork
5. Maintain maintenance schedule and consumables levels for the guillotines. I.e. blades
6. Meet production targets set by management.
7. Ensure a full and efficient shift changeover occurs and the correct information is communicated
8. Actively support continuous improvement activities within the whole of DLR to maintain the company’s efficiency and competitiveness.
9. Disciplined and able to follow SOPs to standardise working practices, be they operational or safety related
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm - 10pm (alternated weekly).
From 31st August, we will transition to a 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift
Base location: Debden
Basic Salary: £39, per annum on Double Days, rising to £41, per annum on 24/5 shift pattern. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £43, per annum.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
10. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, operating mechanical equipment (Essential)
11. Computer literate (Essential)
12. Comfortable working with numbers demonstrated through previous experience or relevant qualifications (Essential)
13. Good eyesight and attention to detail (Essential)
14. Ability to demonstrate clear communication & interpersonal skills
15. Competent in all aspects of guillotine cutting and autonomous maintenance
16. Experience of finishing processes
