The Company
Iris Project Solutions Ltd specialises in the design and construction of controlled environments in both industrial and academic facilities. The company provides full turn-key solutions for the creation of GMP and cleanroom facilities, laboratories, and specialist process systems for private and public sector clients.
Due to continued success, an experienced M&E Project Engineer is sought to join the project team based in Peterlee on a permanent basis. Candidates should have experience in working on large projects within a building services background.

The ideal candidate will be capable of problem-solving and maintaining organisation within their work. They should be self-motivated and able to perform to a high standard, seeking a long-term career with opportunities for development and progression.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Involvement in projects from the enquiry stage through to final acceptance and documentation.
2. Contribute to the design of systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and technical requirements. Typical system types may include:
* HVAC Systems
* Chilled and Low Temperature Hot Water Systems
* Domestic Hot and Cold-Water Systems
* Compressed Air Systems
* Electrical Small Power Systems
* Building Management Systems
1. Attend client meetings as necessary to discuss specific requirements.
2. Conduct site surveys as needed.
3. Instruct, direct, manage, and allocate work to contractors, prioritising safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
4. Ensure all technical information is readily available for the delivery of design and/or construction.
5. Interpret and review drawings, specifications, and schedules for all activities, directing works accordingly and preparing final documentation (As Built Drawings, etc.).
6. Identify and resolve non-conformances early within both the design and construction phases.
7. Assist with the management of project deliverables and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and client quality systems.
8. Contribute to tender, design, and construction programs, including progress updates and reporting.
9. Manage subcontractors, including tender specification, quotation, and health & safety documentation review and appraisal.
10. Assist with the preparation of construction phase health and safety plans for projects where the company acts as the principal contractor under CDM regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Minimum HNC/D level qualification in Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
2. At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
4. Membership in a relevant professional institution (CIBSE/IMechE/IET) with Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
6. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary projects team.
