Overview
Our customer, a leading organisation in the student housing sector is seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer to join its high-performing in-house legal team. This requires someone confident operating independently, with strong contentious construction experience and exposure to commercial property matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on contentious construction matters, providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
* Manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision, acting as the primary construction law specialist.
* Support senior stakeholders across the organisation on construction disputes, contract issues, and related property matters.
* Work closely with internal teams to provide clear, decisive guidance and help drive efficient resolution of issues.
* Contribute proactively within a lean legal function, taking a hands-on approach and offering robust, well-reasoned views.
* Assist with knowledge sharing and handover processes with the existing legal team.
Requirements
* Qualified solicitor with solid experience in contentious construction law.
* Exposure to commercial property matters (in-house experience strongly preferred).
* Ability to work independently and provide clear, pragmatic advice.
* Comfortable operating in a small team with senior stakeholders.
* Proactive, practical, and willing to “roll up your sleeves.”
* Availability to start immediately or before year-end.
