Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based - 31634

The Regulatory Officer role will be based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. We’re a national team with officers based across England. National travel and overnight stays will be required.
We are looking for professional, enthusiastic individuals to join our team of Regulatory Officers. Your responsibilities will include regulating businesses within the Producer Responsibility regime, ensuring compliance of producers, reprocessors, and exporters of waste.
Daily tasks may involve:
* Undertaking audits (on-site and virtual)
* Taking enforcement actions when necessary
* Disrupting non-compliance activities
* Analyzing complex data to make evidence-based regulatory decisions
* Handling confidential and sensitive information in accordance with data protection guidelines
* Contributing to process and procedure improvements
This role is varied, vital, and challenging. The ability to work independently and as part of a dispersed team is essential.

The team comprises Regulatory Officers, Senior Technical Officers, and Digital Specialists, all dedicated to environmental protection and compliance monitoring.
Qualifications and skills required:
* No specific waste industry or regulatory experience required; full training will be provided
* Effective, organized, and able to prioritize tasks
* Rational and composed under pressure
* IT and computer literate
* Comfortable working with large data sets and numbers
* Passionate about the environment and eager to learn about regulation and enforcement
Additional skills include:
* Handling confrontational situations
* Adapting communication styles to different audiences
* Team integration
* Accurate record-keeping
Having a full UK clean driving license is essential.
