Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children? Do you believe in the power of therapeutic approaches and trauma-informed support in education?
We are excited to launch 'Link', a brand new hybrid service at St George's School, designed to support children who may become emotionally dysregulated during the school day. An Inclusion Quality Mark 'Centre of Excellence', we are seeking new practitioners to join our team and be the people who can make a positive contribution in the lives of our children.
The Role
Link is an in-house, therapeutic, trauma perceptive service that provides responsive, in-the-moment care for children who need time and space away from the classroom, providing a personalised programme of support and learning. As a Link Practitioner, you will:
· Respond to children in distress, helping them regulate their emotions, feel safe and engage in learning.
· Support pupils out of the class when needed, in a new dedicated space, empowering them with tailored strategies in a calm, structured environment.
· Work closely with teaching staff to help reintegrate children back into class when they are ready, and learn when to intervene to pre-empt times of potential dysregulation.
· Build strong, trusted relationships with pupils through empathy, consistency, and a trauma-informed approach, being a safe person to provide guidance and support, working between our classroom and therapeutic teams.
· Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
We are seeking nurturing, resilient individuals with:
· Experience working with children with social or emotional needs.
· A practical understanding of trauma perceptive practice, reading behaviours to assist in making connections, co-regulating and building resilience.
· Excellent skills in communication and de-escalation.
· A calm, compassionate, optimistic, and flexible approach.
· An ability to bring the sunshine.
Whether a teaching assistant, learning mentor, therapist, or someone with relevant experience and the right ethos, we would like to hear from you.
What We Offer
· A chance to be part of an innovative, child-centred project from the ground up.
· Ongoing training in trauma informed and therapeutic approaches.
· A supportive, reflective team environment.
· Opportunities for professional growth and development.
Help us build a space where every child feels safe, understood, and ready to learn in our new and flourishing primary school.

Information about the School
We are passionate about our school. Why? … you ask.
It’s simple really. St. George’s School is at the heart our community. It is a well-established school with a sense of pride, community spirit and values.
It is also a school which is proud to be pushing forward; trying to develop increasingly effective teaching and learning strategies that support all of our children … a truly inclusive place to be.
We are focused on improving many aspects of school life. We promote a love of reading for all children, grow skilled writers and mathematicians and support children effectively in both their learning and well-being. We aim to provide an engaging curriculum for all our young learners through interest, breadth and depth, and offer excellent facilities, including state-of-the-art ICT resourcing. Our curriculum drivers of Confidence, Aspiration, Resilience and Experience help prepare children to learn for life.
In recent years we have completed a new capital building programme which includes new classrooms, a new staff area, improved SEN areas and new libraries. Many of our classrooms are newly refurbished … lovely places to teach and learn! With capacity for 680 children, including our own nursery, we are one of the largest primary settings in the area, and provide a true team ethos in which to grow professionally.
However, we still have much to do and believe that by working in partnership to achieve a common purpose we can continue to provide a school that is at the cutting edge of educational practice. We are graded 'Good' by Ofsted (2023) and are an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence. We have one of the highest value added progress ratings in the area.
So, as you can see, we really are passionate about our school and recognise that through enabling inspirational teaching, learning and leadership, we will set the school well on the way to improving further still.
