Responsibilities
Case Management & Court of Protection Work
1. Assist with the day-to-day management of Court of Protection deputyship files (Property and Financial Affairs).
2. Prepare and draft Court of Protection applications, forms, and supporting documentation.
3. Liaise with the Office of the Public Guardian, the Court of Protection, local authorities, care providers, and other third parties.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and financial schedules.
5. Assist with annual deputyship reports and compliance deadlines.
Client & Third-Party Liaison
6. Act as a point of contact for clients, their families, and carers, providing clear and sensitive communication.
7. Deal with correspondence, telephone enquiries, and emails professionally and efficiently.
8. Attend meetings with clients and professionals where required.
Financial Administration
9. Assist with managing client finances under deputyship, including:
10. Reviewing bank statements
11. Monitoring income and expenditure
12. Assisting with payments and financial record-keeping
13. Support fee earners with budgeting and financial oversight for protected parties.
Administrative Support
14. Prepare correspondence, attendance notes, and legal documents.
15. Manage file opening, closing, and archiving in line with firm procedures.
16. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and data protection standards.
17. Assist with billing, time recording, and general departmental administration.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within Court of Protection is essential.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.

Working Hours & Benefits
22. Working hours: 8.45am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
23. Competitive salary dependent on experience c£27,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
