To support our growth and ensure continued excellence, we are seeking a Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic leadership and accountability across our homes.
The Role
As the Responsible Individual, you will act as the senior leader accountable to Ofsted for the performance of our children’s homes. You will oversee Registered Managers, ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and champion the highest standards of safeguarding, care, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic oversight and governance across our homes
* Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards
* Support and supervise Registered Managers to deliver outstanding care
* Act as the main point of contact with Ofsted and other regulators
* Drive continuous improvement in safeguarding, outcomes, and leadership
Potential Backgrounds
We welcome applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds, including:
* Social Care Leadership: Former Registered Managers, Regional Managers, or Directors of children’s services
* Education: Senior leaders such as Headteachers, Designated Safeguarding Leads, or education directors
* Health Services: Senior nurses, CAMHS managers, or healthcare leaders with safeguarding expertise
* Business & Governance: Experienced directors or managers with strong compliance and organisational leadership skills
Qualifications & Experience
While there is no single mandatory qualification for the RI role, successful candidates will typically have:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
* Degree-level qualification in Social Work, Education, Health, or Business (desirable)
* Proven track record in safeguarding, leadership, and regulatory compliance
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Enhanced DBS clearance
