The Role:
Within the team, you will undertake field survey work, prepare plans, reports, and technical documents for architects, planning consultants, developers, and land managers.
You will be involved in:
* Leading ecological surveys and assessments such as PEA, BNG, protected species surveys, and EcIAs.
* Providing expert advice on ecological matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
* Developing mitigation and enhancement strategies to minimise ecological impacts and promote biodiversity net gain.
* Preparing high-quality ecological reports and technical documents.
* Mentoring assistant ecologists, fostering a collaborative team environment.
* Managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and client relations.
* Maintaining strong relationships and communication with clients, stakeholders, and authorities.
Requirements:
* 3-5 years of proven ecological experience with survey and report delivery.
* Understanding of ecological consultancy and a passion for the environment.
* Knowledge of UK habitat and protected species legislation and survey methods.
* Good botanical identification skills, preferably FISC level 3 or above.
* Experience with EcIAs and planning applications.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* Full UK driving license and own car; travel is essential.
* Class 1 bat or great crested newt license preferred.
* Proficiency in MS Office applications.
* Strong communication, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
