Job Description
The Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for all EC&I systems and components of the Ultimate Diesel Generators during installation and commissioning at EDF Hinkley Point C site in Somerset. They will ensure installation, testing, and maintenance of equipment meets high standards, conducts appropriate checks/tests, and maintains safety, quality, environmental and cost controls.
Responsibilities
* Act as Technical Lead representing Rolls‑Royce CN UK on site during build, start‑up and testing phases.
* Serve as Senior Authorised Person / technical specialist, providing guidance and advice to ensure project success.
* Lead and guide installers in all EC&I matters, ensuring flawless start‑up while maintaining health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control standards.
* Provide progress reports to the Project Manager and support at meetings.
* Advise installers on electrical installation statutory and regulatory requirements and assist in creating documentation, standards, specifications and pass/fail criteria for testing and acceptance.
* Ensure installed electrical, instrumentation and controls equipment conforms to design intent and engineering standards, liaising with the Rolls‑Royce design engineering department to resolve site issues.
* Support installers in electrical construction testing activities.
* Lead and manage the EC&I function for commissioning and testing.
* Create as‑build documentation for EC&I matters.
Qualifications
* Degree/HNC level or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic or related engineering discipline.
* Extensive knowledge and experience with electrical plant including switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, PLCs, control systems and instrumentation.
* Demonstrable understanding of electrical systems associated with Emergency/Ultimate Generators, including controls and instrumentation sub‑systems.
* Knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation, CDM standards, focused on safe working at site.
* Ability to work well within a team and independently.
