The Role
The post holder will assist the Senior Charge Midwife in the overall delivery of high quality safe, effective evidence based woman and baby centred care. They will be involved in providing both individualised patient care and in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within all areas of the neonatal unit, ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshire’s policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC. To provide safe, effective, person centred care.
In This Key Role, You Will
* Planning, assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating planned programmes of care for the ill and premature neonate in intensive care, high dependency and specialist care.
* Being an advocate for women, the neonate and their families.
* Provide a health education role for women, their partners and extended families.
* Setting and maintaining standards of care.
* Recognising deviations from normal and implementing appropriate action.
* Assist in the formulating of policy and procedures.
* Participates in audit, research and risk management.
* Supervises and deploys staff within a defined area in the absence of the Charge Midwife/Nurse.
* Ensures a suitable learning environment exists to support trained/student and untrained staff.
* Provides advice and support to staff with regard to care of neonates and women in the postnatal period including issues such as child protection.
What You'll Bring
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
