To contribute to research for the Leverhulme-funded project ‘Ethics for Devolved Health Law’. This role involves historical research, archival and newspaper sources, and reviewing secondary literature to support high-quality publications.

The project explores the divergence in health law across the UK since 1998, examining whether ethical differences justify these variations, with Wales as a case study focusing on historical healthcare practices like medical aid societies prior to the NHS's foundation. It aims to evaluate and critique health law developments through ethical perspectives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Conduct research on the history of medical aid in South Wales and other regions, utilizing archival and newspaper sources.
* Create syntheses and bibliographies based on research findings and contribute to methodological reflections, both historical and interdisciplinary.
* Support the research performance of the School and University by assisting in the production of outputs such as publications in academic journals and presentations at conferences.
* Attend and present at conferences/seminars at local and national levels as required.
* Manage administrative tasks related to the research project, including planning, organization, and reporting procedures.
* Prepare research ethics and governance applications as needed.
* Review and synthesize existing research literature within the field.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
* Postgraduates specializing in history are encouraged to apply, as the role aligns with skills developed during postgraduate studies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Proven expertise and portfolio in research and/or relevant experience in:
1. Archival research
2. Reflection on historical research methods
Knowledge of current research status in the field.
Communication and Team Working
* Effective and persuasive communication skills.
Other Skills and Experience
* Creativity, innovation, and ability to work collaboratively.
* Ability to work independently without close supervision.
* Experience with Welsh history and/or British social history from 1850 onwards.
* Ability to develop and utilize networks to enhance research activities.
