The Plant Operator/Loaderwill supervise the safe and efficient running of a transfer station, to oversee the acceptance and recycling of waste operation within the transfer station and to operate heavy plant (wheeled loading shovel, excavator etc.) to maximize recycling of materials and ensure diversion from Landfill. The Biffa division you’ll be supporting. Our Resource, Recovery and Treatment division focuses on the processing of residual and recyclable materials as well as operating energy from waste facilities across the UK, creating sustainable energy from the processing of waste. We employ c.600 people across three areas within the division: Why it’s an opportunity not to be wasted. Liaison with the site manager/operations manager to plan waste acceptance and recycling in a safe and efficient manner. Operation of heavy plant in the transfer station in accordance with Sites safety rules, Permit and Planning Permission. Routine maintenance of plant and recorded defect reporting on a daily basis. Compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act, other relevant legislation and Company procedures. Accident, near miss and incident reporting. Participation in work team audits, investigations, health and safety committees and operational procedures. Customer care and liaison with customer drivers. General Weighbridge duties including checking and exchanging of waste and Health and Safety paper work To recycle waste by hand picking and floor sort materials into separate waste types for collection. Ensuring the Cat 3 food hall is clean and disinfected regularly in accordance with the various Safe operating procedures. Loading Cat 3 food waste onto trailers in a safe and timely manner as set out in the safe operating procedures Load recycled material onto various types of vehicles for collection and further processing Load waste material onto Artic ejectors using a loading shovel for disposal at landfill Requirements Here’s what we require: CPCS Card or equivalent to operate a wheeled loading shovel (essential) and a 360 excavator (desirable) Experience of working in a waste transfer station would be advantageous Benefits And here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.
