Maintenance Assistant
One Ashford Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, has an excellent opportunity for a reliable and practical Maintenance Assistant to join our maintenance team on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Senior Hospital Engineer & Facilities Manager, the successful Maintenance Assistant will carry out first-line maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and safety checks across the hospital site. They will also work closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure a safe, clean and well-maintained environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the maintenance team with routine maintenance of hospital buildings and services.
• Carrying out first-line repairs and basic maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
• Identifying hazards, making areas safe, and escalating issues where required.
• Assisting with statutory maintenance tasks, plant checks, fire alarm testing, and lighting maintenance.
• Assembling furniture, installing equipment, and supporting contractor activity as directed.
• Working in line with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, infection control, and safe systems of work.
About You:
• You will have experience in general building maintenance, facilities support, or handyman/DIY work.
• You will be practical, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• You will demonstrate a professional, friendly approach and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Desirables:
• Knowledge of PPM schedules
• Experience in a healthcare or similar environment.
