Traffic Manager– Infrastructure – East Anglia
Location – East Anglia (Norfolk & Suffolk)
Purpose of the role
As a Traffic Manager, your role will be to support the Operations Manager in delivering safe, compliant temporary traffic management across Galliford Try’s highways projects in East Anglia. You will manage supply chain partners and oversee key disciplines including VMS signs, road markings, speed cameras, CCTV, traffic management, vehicle restraint systems, and recovery, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruption to road users.
What you will be doing
* Ensure all temporary traffic management activities comply with current legislation and industry best practices.
* Manage network occupancy, including processing Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) and coordinating any necessary departures from standard.
* Oversee supply chain partners, Traffic Safety Supervisors, and Temporary Works Designers, supporting both operational delivery and commercial performance.
* Maintain and control traffic management drawings and documentation, reviewing risk assessments, method statements, asset inspections, and conducting site audits.
* Develop and coordinate emergency procedures during scheme planning, taking the lead on incident management when required.
* Collaborate with design and construction teams to deliver safe, practical, and programme-aligned traffic management solutions.
* Engage with clients, highway authorities, and police to gain approvals and maintain regular, constructive communication throughout the project.
* Organise inspections and maintenance of assets, arranging repairs where needed, and work with the Stakeholder Manager to minimise impact on road users and local communities.
About You
* Take personal responsibility for health and safety, following company policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate and work in line with Galliford Try’s values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration.
* Apply strong knowledge and experience of Temporary Traffic Management, including management, supervision, design, and relevant standards and legislation.
* Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, building positive working relationships.
* Confidently use Microsoft Office and Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools to support project delivery.
* SMSTS qualified as a minimum but NEBOSH or IOSH is desirable along with a CSCS Managers card.
* Hold or have held NHSS 12A TSCO qualification (pre 1st September 2021) / NHSS 12 R5 Traffic Safety Supervisor (Post 2021 replacement 12A TSCO Course).
