The Actuarial Function is instrumental in supporting and influencing the business and longer-term ambitions, with significant investment and wider Group collaboration in establishing a best-in-class actuarial set up.
The way IW&S is structured provides ample opportunity to make a tangible impact on the day-to-day and future direction of the actuarial department, and personally play a critical role in its strategy, establishing and growing the IW&S actuarial capabilities and business partnering.
Role Purpose:
A key member of the actuarial function, you will be required to help support and drive forward BAU and project initiatives, working collaboratively with other members of the actuarial team.
In addition to playing a key role in enhancing the team’s capabilities, the candidate will have responsibility for owning key aspects of the Actuarial team’s processes, stakeholder management, business reporting, capital setting and working with the Actuarial Management team on analysis to generate and support Company results.
The role is broad with exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders and other actuarial functions, project development and quarter/off-quarter activities. The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. This will be suitable to someone looking for a steep learning curve and being empowered to take on ownership and make an impact with the business.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Support setting of key actuarial assumptions and methods.
2. Support reporting of results to key stakeholders, Group and into regulators.
3. Contribute to pricing, reserving and capital discussions with underwriting, actuarial, claims, finance and reinsurance to improve underwriting results. Timely delivery and communication of results.
4. Contribute to actuarial analysis which supports the business planning process and communicate the results to internal and external stakeholders.
5. Work with actuaries, claims and underwriters for sharing information, influencing and to get buy-in on actuarial assumptions used.
6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
7. Develop tools and outputs to leverage actuarial data in-order to improve underwriting performance and deliver insights and valuable MI to key stakeholders and senior management.
Professional Experience:
8. Making progress towards actuarial qualification.
9. Proven ability of working independently and collaborating with others.
10. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Maths, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, Business or a similar field.
Skills & Abilities
11. Excellent IT skills, MS Excel, SQL, Power BI, AI.
12. Strong technical and model building experience.
13. Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
14. Ability to simply communicate modelling process and results with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through reports or presentations.
15. A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to learn and develop.
