SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant

Location: Barking & Dagenham, East London
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary
Start Date: September 2026
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for helping children reach their full potential?

Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking & Dagenham seeking two dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their team from September. This is an exciting opportunity to work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, supporting pupils in both classroom and specialist SEND settings.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils across the school in whole-class, small-group, and 1:1 settings
• Work within a dedicated SEND provision and intervention spaces
• Assist pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning successfully
• Support communication, social development, and classroom engagement
• Work closely with class teachers, the SEN teacher, and SENDCo
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What Were Looking For
Essential
• Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
• A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting learning

Desirable
• Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEN, Childcare, or Education qualification
• Experience working across different primary age groups
• Knowledge of effective SEND support strategies and interventions
