The role
As a Security Assurance Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding Babcock’s information systems and services. This is an exciting opportunity to influence national security projects, support digital transformation, and ensure compliance with critical standards.
Day-to-day, your work will make a real difference protecting sensitive data and enabling secure operations across defence, aerospace, and engineering.
1. Lead and coordinate security assurance activities across multiple business units.
2. Interpret and apply standards such as JSP, NIST SP -/53, ISO, DefStan 05-, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
3. Prepare and maintain security documentation, including SyOps, Information Security Management Plan(s) (ISMP), and Risk Assessments.
4. Represent Babcock in assurance engagements with MOD authorities, customers, and auditors.
5. Deliver risk-based assessments for IT change, cloud adoption, and digital transformation initiatives
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Security Assurance Manager
6. Proven experience in information security assurance or related roles.
7. Strong understanding of technical risk assessment methodologies.
8. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
9. Experience with UK Government classification and MoD assurance standards.
10. Analytical skills to assess complex systems and identify security implications.
Qualifications for the Security Assurance Manager
11. Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Information Security, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
12. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISMP or ISO Lead Auditor (preferred).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) and if necessary Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. You must also be a British National.
